As far as censorship there is only one real answer. ALL OR NOTHING.
If you determine one thing to be wrong you condemn all things to be wrong.
How can you prevent the millions of users from refraining themselves and not just writing the word FUCK in every sentence ( a small example)?

Censorship should be on the user end and not the provider's end. If I use my computer I have the option on where I want to go. If it offends me, I can close the window. Like in my home...I close the window when frolicking neked or in my room responding neked to email. Privacy is MY responsibility and not any organization or the government. Once we allow these things to happen we lose who we are. We are allowed in our privacy to sport sexy lingerie and talk dirty to our mates, then wake up Sunday morning and drag the kids to church. The internet should be no different.

Piracy and Bootlegging does not need the internet. They are age old crimes. In fact they are easily found if use the internet. Like a true salty bucaneer, The Pirate Bay seems an unsinkable ship that waves it's flags and floats about as epitomical mates. The GI's in Desert Storm could go to some store (provided you had already seen the hand chopping at the center of town that was mandatory to show the Americans the consequences of breaking their laws) in town and buy Black Sabbath, and other rock bands cassettes and CD's with a made in Saudi cover and the lyrics included that showed some obvious translation mistakes. They were real cheap and many GI's brought them home. One example I personally questioned and witnessed in my life...I remember reading the lyrics on the Black Sabbath cassette is why I made that band as reference...

It could be modem to modem. But our providers still can detect what is your up/download activity. You are not private right now what you type, where you crawl and your genreral info is all there...If you use DSL your IP is linked to your phone number and more.

They are just waiting for the day you say YES to changing the LAWS and they will be knocking at your door at 3AM when you are downloading that episode of Dr. Who or True Blood you missed and you will be going to jail in your jammies! There is already a big crackdown on copyright infringements. You used to be able to go and see streams of episodes that you missed all over the place. Now even the Chinese are sending a message in Hanzi that you need not have to translate : "Not allowed in your region" or "This Video has been removed due to copyright infringement".

This Internet Blacklist is NOT about piracy because if so...they are just blocking one of the many roads. I am not condoning piracy. I am questioning the motive of our government heads (and I guess I thought I was smart thinking that Democrat meant liberal duh Tippy Gore memory returns) using copyright infringement as a theme?

I personally take copying lightly. Remembering the VHS days when Moms and Dads started having to figure out how to shelve their many recordings off of pay TV. We have TIVO and DVR collecting those missed programs and movies now a days.

The only reason for censorship is uptight users who can't close their windows to PORN or whatever evil they see in it. And then there is HOLLYWOOD because of piracy BUT:
Pirate sites are getting forced off. It is a matter of time in court, but they will get off the wire. Hollywood is pissed because the court hearing was not decisively guilty and there is a long dragged due process to sink the mighty Pirate Bay's Ship.

If you need to download a copyrighted movie or television series you are cheap and desperate. Obviously you are the type who would NOT buy it. Having this available online just makes opportunity for those who would not of bought it in the first place.

For someone to benefit from the ART online...You would have to increase the resolution and have hella hardware to produce it and then put it all in your little trunk and go down some back alley and sell it. No I am not crazy the assumption that profiting from stuff you can transfer is.

This censorship stuff is all a bunch of crap that is all about THEIR MONEY not YOUR SAFETY.
